1 Second deconstructs a cinematic moment into its 24 individual frames, accompanied by a sculpted wooden rope. The second is taken from The Good, the Bad and the Ugly (Sergio Leone), in which the Good shoots the rope tied around the Bad’s neck — revealing their secret collaboration. What seems like an ending is suddenly transformed.
By breaking the moment into frames, the work reveals what’s imperceptible in motion: the rope is cut and rejoined. Yet even as the illusion is exposed, the magic remains — and the sculpted rope only deepens its effect.
